Eco Committee

The Eco Committee was set up in July 2024 and aims to make our School more environmentally friendly and to help spread the important messages about how to reduce, reuse and recycle into our homes too. The Committee worked hard to achieve Eco-School Green Flag status in July 2025. Eco Committee Top Tip - Autumn Term

Walk to school instead of driving!

The average primary school student lives a 15-minute walk from school. Try tracking your steps and see how much walking you get done in a week!

The Eltham Eco Code

Children across the whole school were invited to create an Eltham Eco Code in a format of their choice. The winner, from Year 4, is pictured below with her design.

Everyone has a part to play.
Loving the Earth is always better.
Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
Help clean up the floor.
Always put the rubbish in the bin.
Make our school a better place.

The Edible Garden

As part of our commitment to becoming ecologically friendly, the school boasts a productive and beautiful Edible Garden. The garden is available to all classes to support and enrich their learning. There are also gardening clubs before and after school which are responsible for growing and harvesting the produce.

Awards

We welcomed a judge from the London Children's Flower Society to grade our Edible Playground in June 2025. The judge was very impressed with the garden, and we received a gold certificate for the overall look! Thank you to all the children and parents who helped get it ready.
